1. What is TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher)?

2. What is PGT (Post Graduate Teacher)?

  • PGT refers to teachers who have completed their post-graduation (Master’s degree) and also have a B.Ed. degree.
  • PGTs are eligible to teach classes 11 and 12 (senior secondary level).

6. Recruitment Process for TGT/PGT

(a) Central Government Recruitment:

  1. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS): Conducts recruitment for TGT and PGT posts in Kendriya Vidyalayas across India.
  2. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS): Recruits TGTs and PGTs for Navodaya Vidyalayas.

(b) State Government Recruitment:

  • Each state conducts its own TGT/PGT recruitment exam through state education boards or State Public Service Commissions (e.g., UPSESSB for Uttar Pradesh).

(c) Selection Process:

  1. Written Exam:
    • Objective-type questions based on General Knowledge, Aptitude, Subject-Specific Knowledge, Pedagogy, and Teaching Skills.

7. Exam Pattern for TGT/PGT

(a) TGT Exam Pattern:

    • In-hand Salary: After adding allowances (HRA, DA, etc.), the monthly salary is usually between ₹50,000 and ₹60,000.

(b) PGT Salary:

  • PGT teachers fall under Pay Level 8 or Pay Level 9 depending on the recruitment board.
    • Basic Pay: ₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100 (approx).
    • In-hand Salary: After adding allowances, the monthly salary is usually between ₹55,000 and ₹65,000.
